The chords of “agomoni,” the welcome song to the Goddess, are no longer Bengali phenomena as a growing number of People of Indian Origin also celebrates Durga Puja festival in United States of America. The pandals organized by various Bengali Associations, such as “Durgabari” in Massachusetts, “Saikat” in California, and “Sanskriti” in San Francisco are worth mentioning for their grandeur and cultural events, where musicians and artists from India and USA flock together, making it a vibrant, colorful event. Most catchy is the Vijoya Dashami when the Goddess is parted farewell by women wearing red-linen, white sarees.
Amitabh Bachchan, veteran actor from the Indian cinema, also wishes his fans for Durga Puja at his Facebook timeline: https://www.facebook.com/AmitabhBachchan.
Join the people celebrating Durga Puja in your neighborhood to experience this oriental festival. You need only smile and love to share with the fellows in the diverse American community.
